Rainfall left our adventurers wetter than an otter’s pocket; freezing temperatures leaving shivers so deep, that some appeared to be ‘body poppin’ down the mountains like a Run DMC video audition! And extreme tiredness handed the map reading skills over to the GPS like some small yellow oracle that resulted in an hour-long trek in the wrong direction!
They weathered the challenge… and the challenge had weather! 100mph winds, rain and a wind chill of -9 led to an epic ascent of Ben Nevis that all completed despite the extreme conditions. All pushed on to Scafell Pike where the equally gruelling conditions led to the first casualty… Finally, in the pitch black of night the summit of Snowdon was scaled with a stomp down the train tracks back to earth in a time of 29 hours.
Congratulations to all involved in what was certainly a memorable experience in aid of a truly great cause, Teens Unite. To date, the amount raised is over £1,500, well in excess of our expected target. The Challenge will live long in the memory of the adventurers, a memory which will no doubt extend to even taller tales of the extreme conditions… cue ‘I remember climbing Ben Nevis in 150mph winds…’
Well done to all involved and thanks to all that gave. The amount raised will mean a great deal to Teens Unite.
